WOODLAND HILLS, CA — Every Sunday, in the heart of Hollywood, above the busy ‘Walk of Fame,’ a cardio workout class takes place on the rooftop of the famous Roosevelt Hotel. The class is put on by Fit Girl Club L.A., and it connects people from all walks of life for a workout and some social time afterward.

Fit Girl Club L.A. is an online community of over 5,000 women who come together to bond over fitness and ways of living a healthy lifestyle. Anyone is welcome to participate in any of their classes or events. They aren’t just for women, but the community is run and empowered by women.

The events they host range from different types of workouts to other ways of maintaining a healthy body and mind. The group continues to promote healthy living by selling self-care, workout, and eco-friendly items on their website.

One of Fit Girl Club L.A.’s unique classes is the Cardio and Cocktails class held every Sunday on the rooftop of the Roosevelt Hotel. The type of cardio class offered for Cardio and Cocktails rotates, and Mayumi Matutina teaches the Ass Camp class.

“It brings people from different communities together. It’s outside, it’s beautiful. There’s beautiful views. They provide all the mats, water, and they have cocktails for fun for after” Matutina said.

All of the classes they hold are for all levels, and beginners are welcome.

“I really love the class. It’s for beginners. I was next to the instructor so, it was much easier to look at her. Even [as a] beginner, I never felt [like] I [was] in a position where I’m not being taken care of. It’s a wonderful experience for me, given [that] I have not worked out in a long time,” Taptisaha, a first-time class participant said.

The rooftop adds a special element to the class instead of it just being an average workout class at a basic gym. There are multiple aspects making the experience enjoyable.

“I think the social element is definitely a big part of it. Also, the fact that it’s in Hollywood, it’s on a rooftop. So, you get all the vibey things and you get a workout too, and the music was great,” Sibongile Mlambo, another first-time class participant said.

Another component making this class different is its part of Classes for a Cause, which means “100% of net profit benefits local charities chosen by L.A.’s top fitness teachers.”

The workout gets going every Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m., and tickets can be purchased through the group’s website or on Eventbrite.
